Gainesville is home base. In Alachua County we cover Alachua, Newberry, High Springs, Archer, Hawthorne, Micanopy and Waldo, plus the unincorporated communities of Haile Plantation, Jonesville and Melrose. Farther out, we also take on kitchens in Ocala, Lake City, Keystone Heights, Starke, Williston, Chiefland and Trenton. The houses change as you move out from the city. Older wood-frame homes cluster near downtown and the University of Florida, mid-century block houses fill the established neighborhoods, and planned communities such as Haile Plantation, with its homeowners' associations, sit west of the city limits. Permits change too: property inside Gainesville city limits goes through the City of Gainesville Building Division, the Alachua County Building Division covers the unincorporated county and several municipalities, and towns in neighboring counties have their own offices.
